Conditions of participation Best Book Design from all over the World

The institutions asked to take part have distinguished books in national design competitions. Only such titles are accepted that have already been awarded a prize in their home country or have been recommended by a body of experts. Application documents for the free entry can be obtained through the Stiftung Buchkunst.

The books taking part in the competition are evaluated in a two-day selection procedure by a five-head international expert jury. Usually this jury meeting takes place in mid-February in Leipzig.

The members of the independent jury are appointed every year by the Stiftung Buchkunst. The jury presents the »Goldene Letter« as its highest award, furthermore a gold medal, two silver medals, five bronze medals and five honorary commendations are given. All awards are unendowed.

The diplomas are presented at a ceremony during the annual Leipzig Book Fair every March. All submitted books are shown in the exhibition »Best Book Design from all over the World« and »Book Art International« at the Leipzig and Frankfurt Book Fair.
